What we collect
We store scenario choices, age band, generated guidance, action cards, reviews, lightweight product events, and optional Google account email/profile data if you sign in.
We do not ask for child names, school names, photos, precise location, medical information, or private identifiers.
Children's personal information
Slowtree is intended for parents and guardians, not children. You represent and warrant that you will not enter personally identifiable information about a child under 13, including a child's full name, address, school, precise location, contact information, photos, or other identifiers.
If you believe a child has used Slowtree directly or that child personal information was submitted, contact [email protected] so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
When Slowtree calls an AI partner
Slowtree calls our AI partner, xAI (the maker of Grok), in two situations:
- When you pick the "Other" option on a scenario and type a custom description of tonight's moment.
- When you visit the same exact scenario + stuck-point + age combo for the fifth time. The four preset script variants get rotated through on visits 1–4 with no AI call; on visit 5 and beyond, xAI is asked for a fresh script that does not duplicate the four baselines.
If you only use preset triggers and stay within four repeats per combo, Slowtree never sends your data to xAI. The picker, scenario data, and review prompts all run locally.
What gets sent to xAI
When the AI partner is invoked, Slowtree sends the following to xAI:
- The current scenario, age band, and the trigger you chose (or, on the custom path, the text you typed).
- Up to seven most recent attempts and review answers tied to your visitor or account, so the AI can avoid repeating a script you have already seen and adjust difficulty based on what you marked as better / same / worse.
The following are never sent to xAI: payment information, your Google account email, browser identifiers, IP address, location data, or any field outside the structured scenario + history payload.
Do not enter child names, school names, photos, precise location, medical details, or other sensitive personal information into the custom description box. Slowtree applies a guardrail prompt that tells the AI not to ask for these, but the text you type still leaves your device.
Retention and deletion
Recent attempts, reviews, and product events are kept for 90 days by default. You can delete your Slowtree history from the History page. Account, payment, or broader deletion requests can be sent to [email protected].
Processors and data transfer
Slowtree may use Google for sign-in, xAI (Grok) for automated guidance, Stripe Managed Payments for checkout and subscription handling, and server storage for product history.
xAI operates from the United States, so when Slowtree calls the AI partner your scenario payload and recent attempts are transferred to xAI servers in the US for processing. Under xAI's published API terms, content submitted via the API is automatically deleted within 30 days of the session unless a longer retention is required by law, safety, or abuse-prevention review; xAI does not use API-submitted content to train its public models by default. These providers may process data in jurisdictions outside your country or region. By using Slowtree, you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed by these providers as needed to operate the service.
